Roll the Dice with Geomancy

Lately I’ve been interested in expanding my repertoire of divination techniques. I found a neat little technique called geomancy that uses nothing but a regular 6 sided die and a pen and some paper. This technique is especially good for getting a simple and quick feel of the success of a particular outcome or venture in mind. Here’s how it’s done:

  1. With your question in mind, roll the die and note down the number that lands, and repeat 4 times. Write down your numbers sequentially in a column like this:

    3

    4

    6

    1

  2. Now for every odd number add a single cross, like so:

    3 x

    4

    6

    1 x

  3. Then, for every even number add two crosses, like so:

    3 x

    4 x x

    6 x x

    1 x

  4. The diagram that forms can be used to determine the answer of your question. Add up the total number of crosses. If there are an odd amount, then the question is not ready to be answered and you should wait another week before you ask again. If there are an even number of crosses in your diagram, then you can compare it to the following chart:
